I Wish You a Figgy Pudding…

Here is my annual musical *ahem* tribute to the holidays, which encompass Hannukah, Yule, or Solstice if you prefer, Festivus, Feliz Navidad, Kwanza, Christmas, or a little bit of all of them. My song does not have an original score but you may sing it to the tune of I Wish You a Merry Christmas, think Bing Crosby.

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding…

with a sixpence in it.

It’s a sixpence…I swear.

The sixpence is lucky,

you’ll be feeling quite ducky,

shaking your feathers,

being extra darn plucky.

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding…

with no button in it.

A button…just a button

The button means you’ll be

a spinster you see,

a bachelor, or old maid

good gosh golly, oh gee.

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding…

with hot custard on top.

Figgy Pudding.

The custard is creamy

The taste oh so dreamy,

I’d surely have seconds

but the tummy’s all squeamy.

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding,

I wish you a figgy pudding…

but don’t eat the lot!

  10. I always wondered what a figgy pudding is, and I know the British pudding is quite different from ours. thanks for the picture, and the cute song, and now I’d like to try a piece with extra custard, please?

    Merry Christmas!

  11. robena grant says:

My mother used to serve it warm, along with the hot custard, and I always loved it. You just had to chew real slow because you never knew what was hidden inside your slice, like a sixpence or a button. : )
