Book Fairies

Have you heard of The Book Fairies? They started out in the U.K. but have spread worldwide.

The idea is to place a sticker on the cover of your book, pop a bookmark inside, tie a nice ribbon around it and then leave the book somewhere to be found. The objective is for it to be passed on and read by many for free. I purchased book stickers, ribbons, and bookmarks at a small cost, and received the package in about a week. Very high quality too.

The concept appealed to me, and I went one step further. I typed up a little blurb asking for a review, or even a comment on my blog about where or how they found the book. I included my website address, and asked them to contact me, then glued it onto one of the front pages of the book.

And here’s a photo of the two books I’m going to hand out at my local RWA chapter meeting on Sunday. Whoever takes the books may read them first, then pass them on. Drop the book on a bus seat, a train seat, leave it in a waiting room, outside a bookstore, or library…well, you get the picture.

Fun idea, Robena. Good luck with it! You’ll have to keep us posted on how it turns out.

Most likely, I’ll never hear back Donna. But I’m always giving away books, so this idea appealed.

    What a fabulous idea!

I like it, Sandra Owens. I dropped two books today at the LARARWA chapter meeting, and I have another for the free library in my neighborhood. I hope someone emails me to tell me where they found one of the, Probably won’t, but I like to think of it as “Where in the World is Waldo?” 🙂
